1. What materials can we recycle?
a. Cardboard, paper, aluminum & plastic bottles and cans, glass bottles and jars, scrap metals. This includes detergent and shampoo bottles, metal food cans and cereal/food boxes.
2. How do I recycle Electronic Waste?
a. Personal property should be taken off-base to stores that sell such products or it can be taken the nearest Base Recycling Center during operating hours.
b. Locate free monthly turn-in events posted in newspapers.
c. Contact your Housing Management office for turn-in procedures and programs that apply to your neighbor.
3. Where are Camp Pendleton Recycling Centers?
a. 52 Area, building 520189, behind the Fire Station.
b. 13 Area, building 13193, across from the Auto Hobby Shop.
c. 22 Area, Building 22054, 2 blocks from DRMO.
4. Are there any “after-hour” drop-sites?
a. Yes. Each recycle center has 24/7 drop-site containers.
5. Who do I call when I need assistance or have a question?
a. Base Recycling Center 725-4892.

6. Who is required to recycle at Camp Pendleton?
a. Base Order 6280.5b requires all Base occupants to recycle.
7. Can someone other than Recycling Staff or Waste management
remove recyclables from Recycle Bins and containers?
a. No. Scavenging is illegal and should be reported to PMO or the Recycling Manager.
8. Do you give money back for bottles and cans?
a. No. We are not a redemption center. All recyclables received are considered donated
and the revenue obtained from sales is returned to the Base Recycling Program.
After paying for the recycling program’s overhead, the remainder pays for morale,
welfare and recreation projects.
9. How should I handle my moving boxes following my PCS?
a. Break down and flatten all boxes and place at the curb on your scheduled trash day.
Place packing paper in a separate box. DO NOT PUT TRASH in these boxes.
10. I live in family housing and I need recycle bins. Who can I call?
a. Call your housing management office.
11. Do I have to wash out empty bottles, jars and cans?
a. No, but it is recommended, so to reduce flies, vermin and odors.
12. Do I have to remove the labels from the bottles, jars and cans?
a. No, removing label is no longer required but removing lids and bottles helps us to
process the material faster.
